Zahra Hussain

Zahra is a specialist in periodontics and a consultant in restorative dentistry and honorary clinical lecturer in periodontology at the UCLH Eastman Dental Hospital. She earned her dental honours degree from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Dental School at King’s College London - during which she also undertook an intercalated Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Zahra went on to work within a general dental practice and gained experience in senior house officer posts in restorative dentistry and oral & maxillofacial surgery. She then completed the 5-year specialist training programme in restorative dentistry and a Masters of Science degree in conservative dentistry (awarded with distinction) at the Eastman Dental Hospital. She entered multiple general dental council specialist lists (periodontology, prosthodontics, endodontics and restorative dentistry) in 2014.

Zahra is actively involved in teaching, training, and supervising future specialists and general dental practitioners and has published papers in reputable journals. She is a member of the British Society of Periodontology, the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and has also been an examiner on the Overseas Registration Exam (ORE) since it’s launch in 2008.As a Consultant in restorative dentistry, working within the periodontal department.

Zahra is highly skilled and experienced in treating patients who require complex periodontal and restorative treatments including: Surgical and non-surgical management of early and advanced gum disease (periodontitis), including regenerative periodontal surgery procedures, pre-prosthetic and aesthetic surgery (crown lengthening procedures), periodontal plastic surgery including gum grafts (muco-gingival surgery), and management of peri-implant diseases.

Outside of work she enjoys exploring the countryside, gardening and spending time with her family.
