Not everyone wants silver fillings that show when they smile or laugh, so tooth-coloured (otherwise known as white or composite fillings) are a great alternative; made up of a composite resin that’s coloured to match the shade of your teeth.
This material has big advantages over traditional metal fillings; it chemically bonds to the teeth unlike traditional fillings, doesn’t contain any mercury, and it’s strong and durable. White. Gold. Silver. There are a number of dental filling options available to you at Freshdental. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Silver, or amalgam is the most common traditional filling material. Although it is the least expensive , it isn’t the most attractive choice and requires more healthy parts of the tooth to be removed during filling preparation as it does not chemically bond to the tooth. It also contains mercury.
The main advantage of a tooth-coloured filling is that it looks more natural. If you don’t want your filling to be seen, this is an ideal choice for you. The same materials can even be used to repair chipped, broken or worn teeth.
Composite fillings can be used for holes of various sizes.
An added benefit of composite fillings is that they bond to the inside walls of the tooth cavity. This reduces the amount of drilling required and seals and protects the inside of the tooth from bacteria.
